Special Sale Items

I occasionally have items to sell that are of interest to steel guitarists but not among the standard listings on this website. Check back here occasionally to see what may be listed. The following is one such item. …Tom

Fender Stringmaster: The following Fender four-neck steel guitar is one that I restored many years ago. I received it without a case, so built a very nice one for it (as shown below). When finished, I posted pictures of it, implying that it was for sale, but I never came up with a price. Over the years I received many purchase requests, but I never sold it.

So many have expressed interest that I now feel it is best to auction it. After receiving suggestions from several “value” authorities, I’ve set the minimum bidding to begin at $4,000. All who you wish to bid on it may do so. I will register your bid, as well as alert you of your standing as compared to other bids. All bidders must agree to have the top 3 bidder’s names revealed two weeks prior to the December 1, 2023 bidding deadline. At that time I will notify all bidders of who they are and what their bids were. This will be done to assure the legitimacy of the auction and provide all bidders with the opportunity to make a final offer.

The steel was apparently custom ordered, with Fender complying. I’ve been told this by several who have viewed the guitar, finding some construction aspects to be absent from similar “lap” steels that Fender produced. I stripped its ash wood of its varnished finish and applied a new finish. I had to replace and re-chrome a few of the cover plates because they were rusted beyond repair. Otherwise, the guitar is original. The guitar plays very well and everything functions on the guitar including its neck switches, pickups, tuning keys and volume/tone controls.
